What this support looks like

Homemaker services provide light housekeeping and household management support in the person's home. The goal is a safe, comfortable living environment — and, wherever possible, helping the person do as much as they can themselves rather than doing it for them.

Examples of daily activities

  • Light cleaning — sweeping, dusting, wiping counters, cleaning bathrooms
  • Laundry and changing bed linens
  • Meal planning, grocery list help, and light meal preparation
  • Washing dishes and putting groceries away
  • Taking out trash and recycling
  • Sorting mail and keeping household paperwork organized

These are illustrations, not a fixed list. Support is planned with the person and may differ from what's shown here.

Person-centered benefits

  • A safer home with fewer hazards and less clutter
  • Reduces the strain of housework on the person and their family
  • Supports health and hygiene routines
  • Builds household skills the person can keep using
